Dumb bird…

What happens to dumb birds?

They become our hood ornament!

image

So we were on our way to look through a house today (with our realtor following behind us) and there were two birds in the road. We assumed they would fly away when we drove up on them…well one did…and one didn’t quite make it. It’s blood and guts flew up all over the windshield. But we were mostly shocked when we got up to the house and realized it was still stuck to the front of the car. I was laughing so hard…and the kids were freaking out…especially when Rich had to pry it off our car! SICK!

Our realtor asked if we would continue to lead the way from house to house so we could hit and gather up all the dumb birds with our car!

The worst thing about being new in town is not knowing where anything is. We drove around town for 30 minutes today looking for a carwash but never found one…oh well…in memory of our dumb bird we’ll just keep his blood and guts on the windshield for a couple of more days:)

Sleepless nights…

What did I sign up for???

When I agreed to take on this….

DSC_0902

(No not the nakey child) ….THE CAT…. I had no idea I was taking on a “newborn stage” that I haven’t had to deal with for 2 1/2 years!

Last night we put her in Sadie’s room to sleep, because it’s her cat….it’s her responsibility! But in the middle of the night Sadie brings her in and drops her off in our bed because she “CAN’T SLEEP” because the cat is keeping her up. In our drowsy condition we agreed to take the cat and Sadie headed off back to bed. Then for the following 5 hours this cat proceeded to run up and down the bed, pounce on our faces, and play wrestle in our bed sheets. I’m not the kind of person who welcomes animals into my bed (or on my face for that matter), but I was so tired that I half slept through it all (just like I do when I have my own newborn).

All I can say…IS IT’S A GOOD THING SHE’S SO CUTE!

Cherished moments…

Lately I’ve been really struggling to be a good mom. Nothing tests my patience more than moving and dealing with three crazies at the same time. And to make matters worse we are just renting a house (with no furniture…and we are trying not to unpack) while we search ….what feels like the ends of the world…for our home. My house is unorganized…my life is unorganized…therefore I’M SUPER MOODY! I”m trying not to be…but it’s been difficult to keep my cool. Especially with my lovely 7 year old who’s just like me in everyway (which is not good when she imitates all of my recent mood swings).  We’ve been butting heads ALL DAY TODAY…I finally turned her over to her dad because I knew we needed some space from each other. But when I went back upstairs tonight this is what I found on my bed….

A note and a handmade gift.

She may be a feisty one…but she’s all heart!

Foul play…

REMEMBER THIS GUY….MR. CRABBY???

Well we pulled him out of the pot outside and put him in the aquarium in Mason’s room with a handful of fish (just like when he was a little baby crab). He used to just eat the food off of the floor of the aquarium, but now that he’s a big daddy crab…he’s taken a liking to fish meat! My poor kids where traumatized the next morning when they woke up to find a bunch of their pet fish eaten…or half eaten (I know gross).

BUT BEFORE WE COULD TAKE MATTERS INTO OUR OWN HANDS….I’M CONVINCED THE REMAINING LIVING FISH GOT TOGETHER AND PLANNED HIS DEATH!

The morning after the serial killing of the fish…Rich went into check on Mr. Crabby and he was MIA!!! What?!?! How does a crab go missing in an aquarium with a top???

THOSE FISH LOOKED GUILTY….THEY HAD  A MOTIVE!!!

Well we searched high and low throughout the house for a good hour. I was freaking out just thinking about someday running into his dead carcas!

Rich was just getting ready to leave for work when I started folding some clothes. I picked up  a shirt and felt a CRUNCH! I freaked out screaming and running around the house…you know when you get the shivers you just can’t shake off.

Well  sure enough…IT WAS HIM…and he survived a night out of water. He was mad as all get out…which makes me think he was booted out of the tank…he must have not gone voluntarily. So we just threw him back in and we’ll see who’s the toughest in the survival of the fittest tank. Now it’s 2 fish versus one crab!

GONE COUNTRY…

So we’ve made our move! I guess you could say the city we live in now is a little more country than we are used too (lot’s of wide open fields…quite beautiful really).  Because our new city has all the stores I usually shop at, I didn’t think there would be much of a culture shock for us…..

BUT BOY WAS I WRONG…..

I WAS A LITTLE SHOCKED TO SEE THIS… (Keep watching until we pull up on a white car…hehe)

Who knows…maybe time will change us into COUNTRY FOLK and we will throw some goats in the two extra seats in our van! I just draw the line at cattle!!!

It was so fancy that even Ironman/Bumblebee only stuck around for about 5 minutes…then he disappeared upstairs for the rest of the party!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FANCY SADIE…We love you and think you are an extraordinary and fabulous girl everyday of the year!

We just might be!

I think it’s safe to say we just might be white trash since this is how we are choosing to pack up our things for our next big move!

IMG_0001

So it’s official….as of now we are committing to be DESERT PEOPLE! We are staying in Arizona…but moving 1 hour away from where we are right now!

I HATE MOVING:( Which is apparent in the way I pack huh? Hey if you moved once every year you would start to pack in this manner too! We are excited that this may be it for our moving days….at least we are hoping:)

Her wish…

If I was as lucky as my six year old I would be a millionaire this week! See Sadie’s been wishing for only one thing since she was old enough to talk, which is getting a kitty. And lately, that’s all she’s been talking about! She’s been trying to convince us that now would be a good time to get her a kitty since we are most likely settling down for awhile because Rich just took a new job. Well we didn’t even have much time to think over her proposal, because this week fate granted her wish whether we liked it or not !

This is what Rich found when he went to empty the trash in our backyard on Friday…

DSC_0460

DSC_0478

So we decided if we were going to get a cat…might as well give one of these little cuties a home (plus this will save us $60 in adoption fees).

We went out and bought a kennel and litter box etc. and put them along with one cat on Sadie’s bed. When she came home from school, Rich told her there was a big mess on her bed she needed to clean up. She got all huffy and puffy and started stomping up the stairs….UNTIL SHE SAW WHAT WAS ON HER BED….then she turned and ran to me before even picking up the cat to give me a hug and thank me…it was sweet:)

DSC_0470

Her dream of 4 years finally came true:) And she’s the perfect little kitty momma. She likes to hold and bounce that kitty all the time. She even snuck out of bed the first night and went downstairs and slept next to where we were keeping them!!!

Kendyl’s also a big fan of our new addition…

DSC_0467

Maybe because she’s finally found a friend that’s as homeless as she’s been looking these days (due to her mother spending every waking minute PACKING!)

THE VERDICT IS IN…..THE CAT’S NAME WILL BE CHLOE!

If you passed by…

If you passed by our house on Wed. afternoon and saw Rich doing this….

DSC_0473

Just to make you aware….he didn’t have a hangover…or the stomach flu…and no he wasn’t vomiting in this pot! I know he was bent over like this for at least 10 minutes, which I’m sure had many of you wondering what the heck was going on.

He was just trying to find our MR. CRABBY…

DSC_0475

So that Mason could take him to show and tell the next day! All the other kids bring toys….not our children. We always bring weird creepy crawly sort of things. Last month he took our large turtle in.  I’m sure the teachers were relieved that this was Mason’s last month of show and tell…because along with Mr. Crabby, we also brought the skin Mr. Crabby shed just a couple of days ago….

DSC_0476

This freaked one of Mason’s teacher’s out so much that she had to get up and leave when we walked in!

I bet she’ll re-think her decision about ordering seafood next time she’s out:)

Easter Trip…

We spent this Easter in Utah, which was so much fun! We made the trip up for Lindsay’s wedding (Rich’s sister). The week was full of so many special and awesome moments.

Easter is always kind of an emotional time for me because my mom passed away 8 years ago on Easter morning. I always feel so close to her at this time of year, and thanks to the wedding, I got to spend a lot of time in the temple which just made Easter even that much more meaningful! I’m thankful that I have a testimony of the Plan of Salvation. I know I will get to live with my mom again…and that brings me so much peace :)

The Easter Bunny brought pillow pets to the kids…

And lot’s of candy…

DSC_0076

Why do we even try to get decent pictures???

DSC_0070

We played in the snow…using socks as gloves (yes we have adapted to an Arizona lifestyle…real gloves are not apart of our wardrobe anymore)

DSC_0120

Played with chickens…

DSC_0097

Put pent up (riding in the car too long) energy to good fun use…

And made ourselves comfortable at Grandpa and Grandma’s house…

Attended the wedding of these beautiful people…

But we managed to smile even through the arctic weather…

DSC_0204

We finally warmed up at the luncheon….

IMG_4051

But I think damage to our brain had already been done….

Then Kendyl said she wanted to do a silly face picture (keep in mind she’s still learning from big sis…)

photo 1: A little silly

IMG_4052

photo 2: Getting there

IMG_4054

photo 3: Ok I’m getting it now….silly tongue face…oh!

Sadie loved pretending like she was the bride…

And when she wasn’t shadowing the Bride…she was scavenging the candy table…BUSTED! (Love the guilty look on her face).

 DSC_0381

There was some serious dancing going on…

DSC_0437

And occasionally some good picture opp’s….

DSC_0236

Well not always…

Really how hard can it be to get two girls smiling and looking at the camera at the same time???

DSC_0239

DSC_0240

Mission accomplished after 20 tries!

DSC_0249

Picture taken just in time…because it doesn’t take a two year old very long to find some curtains to jump in and out of which leaves her looking like this:

And drowned rat in a pretty dress!

THS TRIP PRETTY MUCH WORE US OUT….

BUT WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
