Official marathon time….

So the results are in…..my official Ogden Marathon time was 4 hours, 8 minutes and 50 seconds!!!! (I had a 4 minute delay at the starting line). Hmm….I was 28 minutes away from qualifying for Boston. Do you think it’s within my reach??? Hope so because I think that’s my next goal!

Can’t wait to run my next one! But I’m sad that with this move I’m also losing my running partner, Kendi….

IMG_1092

Thanks to her I actually enjoyed the training….crazy to think… because we ran at 5:00 a.m. in the cold Utah weather. But I really enjoyed our conversations which took my mind off of the long runs. I’ve loved getting to know her and will miss her soooo much!

Now I’m looking for a new running partner who lives near Gilbert, AZ….any takers????

House is clean…House is Empty…but a price was paid!

So we are making progress. Everything we own is either in the garage or in storage. It’s 1:30 in the morning and I can finally pronounce “THE HOUSE IS EMPTY AND THE HOUSE IS CLEAN”.

So why am I up blogging you might wonder??? Because I’ve now stayed up too late that I can’t fall asleep.

Well packing up a house with kids has been far more painful than the marathon I just ran. Whenever a mother is doing something outside her normal daily duties there is always a price to be paid. This was it at our house:

Kids staying in their pajamas ALL DAY LONG…..(or in Mason’s case: staying in half of his pajamas). The sad thing was he didn’t even get out of his soggy pull-up until lunch time. Then they headed outside and filled every dirt area in our backyard with water. WHAT A MESS…oh well….at least they were out of my hair and outside….BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY COME INSIDE when I’m too busy to notice what’s happening….

A CRAZY MESS…my whole house was covered in popcorn and skittles. At least it kept Kendyl busy as she walked around the whole house being the little popcorn and skittle hoover. I NEVER WANT TO MOVE AGAIN!

Happy MAYHEM 6th Birthday…

So today was Sadie’s Birthday party. The kids had fun…so it seemed. But you can imagine with ALL THESE KIDS how much fun it was for the parents! LUCKILY MY SWEET FRIENDS CAME TO THE RESCUE. I did not ask any of these gals to help out…yet there they were coming to my desperate need. I love my friends!!!!

The worst part was…I filled my car with kids (after all the other mom’s filled their cars and left), when I realized I COULDN’T FIND MY KEYS!!! I searched this whole house up and down for 20 minutes until I finally found them. Then I got to the park (extremely late) to discover that the kids where almost literally blowing away (along with the presents….balloons etc). The wind was SO STRONG! I even had to tape all of their plates to the table just to keep their dinner from flying away. Seriously my stress level was at its highest!!! I think most of my anxiety stems from the fact that we are moving in just a couple of days and Rich is working like a crazy man…and here I am throwing a party…selling everything…packing…and trying to clean all on the same day. My life is going to feel so boring come next week.

But in the end I survived….AND SADIE HAD SUCH A GOOD TIME AT HER PARTY! That’s all the matters right? It’s her day….any amount of stress I had to endure through today was well worth it as long as she felt special….which she told me she did! Here’s to celebrating you Miss Sad’s!!!

Played games….

IMG_1002IMG_0996

I’m going to title this game “Dress up like a homeless man and dig through the trash!!!!”

I loved playing this game as a child at my Birthdays. You wrap up candy again and again in newspaper. Then a child has to dress up in all of these clothes and you give them 2 forks and they get to go at the newspaper wrapped candy. Meanwhile the child next to them is rolling dice. Once they roll doubles then it’s their turn to get dressed up, and then the next child starts rolling. When I was young my mom would wrap up a large chocolate candy bar. And once they stripped it down to the candy on your turn you got to start cutting pieces of the candy bar and start eating it. I opted to go with Skittles to reduce the amount of slobber being swapped between the children. Once they dug to the Skittle I opened the bag and shared with everyone. The kids had fun. And the best part was they were all chanting…..DIG…DIG…DIG!

Sadie loved the arts and craft supplies (although cousin Rachel looks a little disgusted about it).

Made me smile…

image

My brother-in-law posted this picture of Rich (far right) and some of his siblings when they were young. They ran into (then) Elder Monson in Hawaii….who is now the Prophet and President of the the church. As large as the church is, it still amazes me how we can encounter and meet these huge spiritual giants who have been called of God. This is a moment Rich has talked about before, so it was so fun to see the actual picture from this experience. I have met Pres. Hinckley a few times in my life….and  I will never forget how I felt knowing I was standing in the presence of a Prophet of God. I know this man is a Prophet of God too….and just seeing my sweetheart in his presence made me smile today!

Happy Birthday Sweet Sadie

Wow…every year when Sadie has a birthday I always have a huge reality check that my first born is getting so old and that I’ve been a mother for much longer than I feel like I have. I can’t believe how quick 6 years has gone by. Sadie kept cuddling up with me today…and as I held her I just kept thinking about what it felt like to hold her for the first time. Her spirit was so new and pure…yet I felt like I had known her for such a long time. I love being a mother. I’m grateful that 6 years ago today, Heavenly Father trusted me enough to bless me with the responsibility of becoming a mother. It hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be….but so worth it. I love you Sadie Bug. You are a beautiful girl in every way. Thank you for making me so happy!

So for Sadie’s 4th B-day we bought her a bike (it was a little big…but not a big deal since it had training wheels). Well she learned how to ride without training wheels this summer….but she doesn’t enjoy it because every time she slows down she tips over. So we decided to get her a little bike for her to gain some confidence on. We are kind of working backwards here…but we knew she would love it. AND SHE DID!!

IMG_0949

As you can see the first thing she did after seeing her bike was hug her Daddy because she was so happy!

We are not having Sadie’s B-day party for another two days…so to celebrate today I took her to Carl’s Jr for a Birthday Breakfast.

Yum…popsicles!

IMG_0937

Sadie watched a commercial where you put a stick into yogurt and freeze it into a popsicle.  So Sadie grabbed a yogurt and a fork to try it out. Mason grabbed a tube of frosting…..yummy! Anyone want to come over for a yogurt and frosting pop???

Deserts calling me…

IMG_0936

I’ve been feeling a little sad lately about our upcoming move. But after after waking up to this today….I think the desert is starting to call me her way!
