Finally…A SOCCER MOM!

So Rich and I have never put our kids in extracurricular activities, because…well we’ve been in school with no income until this year. One thing I was most excited about Rich finishing school and taking his first job was the thought that FINALLY MY KIDS GET TO DO THINGS!!! So for their first sport we chose SOCCER…

Our kids LOVE, LOVE PRACTICE…but they were not big fans of the actual game. Practice is in the evening when it’s cooler. It’s less running…more drills and plenty of time to talk and play with friends. The games are more like torture to them…playing in the heat of the sun…just chasing the ball up and down the field barely being able to keep up with the ball… let alone actually kick it. At one point of the game, Mason turned around from the cluster of kids and started walking over slowly to us. I asked him “MASON, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” He responded, “I’M HUNGRY!”

Don’t you love the grandma shorts on Sadie? That’s because her frugal mother wants her to be able to wear them for at least 3 years…so I bought them extra big!

When the ball wasn’t around…he was entertaining his little lady friends Olivia and Talli with his awesome dance moves!

Mason did well keeping up with the ball…but didn’t get many chances to do anything with it. He finally got his shot. The ball came cruising down the field right toward him WHEN THIS HAPPENED (in the video)

Poor Kendyl got attacked by an ant hill….she had at least 20 bites on her foot…so sad!

It was a long exhausting day….ABOUT 4 HOURS OUT IN THE SUN! Are we ever going to survive this soccer season? I’m not sure if I’m cut out to be a soccer mom!

Our STAR!

Sadie performed in the school talent show….and she did GREAT! I was a little surprised when she came to me months ago asking if she could tryout for the talent show with her best friend Abby. Sadie LOVES TO PERFORM…but usually not in front of an audience. I’m glad she did this…it’s fun to watch the confidence grow in your children through different experiences. WE LOVE YOU SADIE…WE ARE SURE PROUD OF YOU!

The trap failed…

DSC_5732

We set up the trap to catch our leprechaun…but it FAILED! It must have made him a little perturbed, because he TORE OUR HOUSE APART…and left a trail of poopies!

But he was kind enough to leave us some notes…goodies…and a clue how to find his pot of GOLD!!!

Mason’s face in these pictures crack me up! Reminds me of my Dad back in the 80’s when everyone’s Dad wore those HUGE EYE GLASSES!

He made our milk green…to go along with our Lucky Charms!

More discoveries that he made himself at home…

We invited friends over to help us follow the clues to HIS TREASURE POT!!!

We played games…

Did a little Irish Jig dancing…

Then we set off to find his treasure…

The funniest part was when the older kids skipped the second to last clue because they could see the pot of gold in the distance. However, the little kids did not catch on. They kept screaming how they wanted someone to grab the clue…meanwhile, the older kids are going at the loot!

Feel’in the love…

DSC_5348

In the car today:

Sadie says, “Mom, if you ask me to do one more thing today, I’m going to ship you off to Africa”

Mason says, “Sadie you can’t do that, we would miss Mom”

MY HEART MELTS….UNTIL MASON CONTINUES…

Mason then says “Yeah Sadie, if you ship her off…then who’s going to be our servant?”

This made me giggle…and then it got me thinking of ALL THE CHORES I could make them do tomorrow!!!

Book time…

I’ve been taking the kids to the library weekly ever since Sadie was born (almost 8 years now)….and yes I started taking her when she was a newborn….mostly because she was born during the beautiful spring weather up in Logan and I LOVED taking walks with her everyday, and the library was the perfect walking distance from our apartment. I made our library trips into habit and we have rarely missed a week. Now that the kids are in school it’s just been Kendyl and I going…but this week with the kids out of school it was fun taking my whole crew again.

It’s play time…

It’s spring break for our kids…which means housekeeping, exercising, home cooked meals, and grocery shopping gets put on the back burner while we play all week! Today we hit up the children’s museum with friends…

Take me out to the ball game…

One of the technicians that works with Rich auditioned to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the D-Backs vs. Indians game. She was picked! So the whole vet clinic shut down half way through the day so we could go to the game to support her….SHE DID AN AMAZING JOB!

I think the kids enjoyed the hotdogs, nachos, lemonade, mike and ikes, sunflower seeds, licorice and ice cream more than the game itself. We came home with sun kissed cheeks and sleepy children. What a fun day!
